WOBURN, MASSACHUSETTS-BASED BUILDER NAMED TOP NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY LEADER

Arlington, VA — A Boston-area commercial builder was recognized today for his national leadership within the construction industry. John Tocci, Sr., CEO of Woburn, MA-based Tocci Construction was named Committee Chair of the Year by the nation's largest and oldest construction association for his efforts to improve the use of technology in commercial construction.

"John's advocacy for better use of technology is changing the very nature of the construction industry in ways that benefit our industry, our communities and our economy," said Stephen E. Sandherr, chief executive officer of the Associated General Contractors of America. "He is using his incredible knowledge and tremendous energy to bring our industry into the twenty-first century."

John Tocci was recognized for his accomplishments as the chair of the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ BIMForum, a coalition of contractors, designers, engineers and owners dedicated to using building information modeling (BIM) technology to improve design and construction. The technology makes it significantly easier for everyone involved to access every aspect of a construction project. As a result, it is easier to update timelines, work schedules and construction budgets when changes are required.

Over the past year, Tocci oversaw a one-hundred percent growth in participants in the ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ BIMForum. Mr. Tocci also played a role in overseeing the development of the first-ever curriculum designed to teach construction professionals how to use BIM technology. That curriculum was successfully launched earlier this month and is known as BIM 101.

Tocci, who has long been involved with the Associated General Contractors both in Massachusetts and nationally, was recently recognized as one of the nation's 25 most influential construction professionals by a leading national industry publication. "John is making our industry better and our association stronger," Sandherr noted.
